The Food Hall at City Foundry STL

City Foundry STL is a 15-acre adaptive reuse of the former Federal-Mogul foundry site into a 21st century mixed use development that celebrates creative concepts in food, commerce and entrepreneurship. Envisioned as a community of innovation where ideas thrive, this unique platform offers innovative food concepts, retailers and work spaces.

The anchor of the first phase of the development is the Food Hall, a culinary destination for the community and visitors. The Food Hall includes space for 20 vendors, with each kitchen run by local chefs creating innovative food concepts. Dining space is mixed in among the food stalls, creating a dynamic culinary experience for visitors.

Painstaking care was taken at every stage of the development of City Foundry STL to preserve the site’s original character while positioning it for the future. The Food Hall, which occupies over 30,000 SF of space in the massive central Foundry building, required particular ingenuity to faithfully realize. Solutions include a first-of-its-kind shared exhaust and fire suppression system for 19 active kitchens, and a custom concrete floor restoration system developed by the design-build team with MBE/WBE partners.
