Lawrence Group is helping to rebrand and support cancer patients in St. Charles County and surrounding communities with its recent renovation/expansion of SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital’s Cancer Center in Lake Saint Louis.
Lawrence Group’s healthcare studio provided architecture and interior design services on the recent multi-million-dollar project aimed at increasing treatment capacity and improving the patient experience for individuals navigating cancer care. A ribbon cutting ceremony marking the project’s official completion was held on July 28.
“We are fortunate to serve the people of St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties and the surrounding areas,” says Jeremy Fotheringham, RN, MHSA, JD, Academic, St. Louis and Southern Illinois regional president at SSM Health. “Through cancer services that started in the 1970s when St. Joseph-Lake St. Louis hospital was built, our cancer program has experienced remarkable growth. To meet the needs of these growing communities and keeping high-quality cancer care treatment as close to home as possible, we are expanding our services and accesses in a newly transformed treatment center for patients and their loved ones.”
The expanded center features space for additional clinical staff and new exam rooms, plus semi-private infusion bays complete with floor-to-ceiling windows for patients to view the nearby lake while receiving treatment.
“We designed the infusion area to give patients choices of where to receive their treatment while allowing staff to visually monitor and assist them,” said Lawrence Group Principal/Senior Interior Designer Becky Egan, NCIDQ. “Additionally, the color palette features warm wood tones, soft, watery blues and greens and nature-inspired wall graphics and artwork that bring comforting hints of nature into the treatment areas.”
The building’s pharmacy, laboratory and waiting areas were also expanded to provide a patient-centered environment to support patients at every stage of diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
