Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) engaged long-standing design partner Lawrence Group with an opportunity to open a new specialty clinic and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in the growing Round Rock community. The project, located in a newly constructed spec medical office building, involved an interior finish-out for the entire facility for ARC as the exclusive occupant. The building posed challenges on optimizing floor plan layouts for both clinical and surgical space types. This, coupled with being the first ASC that ARC has delivered in central Texas, resulted in the project team collaborating extensively on code, industry best practices, and functional needs in order to develop project objectives and a program.
Lawrence Group worked closely with the client, engineering and equipment partners, and other collaborators to develop an efficient, standardized program that allowed the square footage to be maximized with room for growth in the second-floor clinic. Solutions, such as standardizing operating room sizes at just over 400 SF, required careful coordination with the project team to validate functionality while maximizing the available floor plan.
