Ronald McDonald House St. Louis City

Ronald McDonald House Charities’ mission is to provide a home-away-from-home for families of children receiving medical treatment. To serve more children and families in the St. Louis community, Ronald McDonald House Charities selected Lawrence Group to design a new Ronald McDonald House in the historic Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood, strategically located between two pediatric hospitals. In addition, Lawrence Group assisted with fundraising efforts throughout the project life cycle.

The new Ronald McDonald House includes 72 guest rooms and family-centric amenities for children and their families. Themed play rooms encourage kids to indulge in their imagination, with technology areas and spacious lounges accommodating guests of all ages. A high-end commercial kitchen provides quality meals for guests, while family kitchens are available for guests to prepare individualized meals. An immunocompromised wing with a dedicated family kitchen allows RMHC to support even the most vulnerable patients, a testament to the charity’s commitment to its mission.

Throughout the design process, Lawrence Group worked with the neighborhood association to design a building that creates a modern experience within a historical context. As a result, the design features two primary facades: a historic facade facing the neighborhood’s primary thoroughfare, and a modern facade facing a secondary street and serving as the main entrance.
