Lawrence Group, in partnership with HKS, are designing SSM Health’s new Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility set to redefine pediatric healthcare in St. Louis. Currently under construction at Chouteau Avenue and Grand Boulevard, the 505,092-square-foot, 14-story hospital will provide 200 inpatient beds with shelled areas for expansion. Services of the advanced facility include neonatal and pediatric intensive care, cardiology, cancer treatment, and dialysis care. Designed with a focus on patient and family-centered care, the facility will incorporate cutting-edge medical technology, research, and innovative healing environments to support the next generation of pediatric healthcare. This project reinforces SSM Health’s commitment to providing high-quality, accessible care while strengthening its academic medical campus.
The new hospital, set to open in 2027, will replace the current 195-bed SSM Health Cardinal Glennon facility at 1465 S. Grand Blvd. In collaboration with McCarthy Building Companies, Inc as the design-build lead, this project will serve as a world-class healthcare environment that meets the evolving needs of patients, families, and medical professionals.
