Challenge
The University of Texas at Austin requested Lawrence Group’s services in the replacement of three underutilized traditional classroom spaces with a modern, 2,000-square-foot collaboration space intended to be used by the College of Communication’s growing advertising program for capstone courses, presentations and social events with clients.
Solution
In addition to a large, open lab space to support the primary programming of the advertising group, the project adds multiple meeting spaces of various scales to serve the flexible needs of the College, including a traditional conference room, lounge and podcasting room. Student workspaces also promote student collaboration and public use.
The design required significant AV/IT infrastructure to support the program functions and features writeable wall surfaces, custom glazed sliding doors and switchable privacy glass, among other sophisticated finishes. In addition to traditional design services, Lawrence Group also provided furniture and finish selection, layouts, budgeting and coordination.
