St. Louis Character: Architect Todd Bundren finds where art, science and Panera meet

by Lawrence Group

Principal Todd Bundren was recently featured as a St. Louis Character in the St. Louis Business Journal.

Todd Bundren took a winding path to his architectural career before becoming a principal at St. Louis-based architecture firm Lawrence Group, where he’s worked for more than 20 years. During that time, he’s seen the firm grow from one of St. Louis’ largest firms to a national one. He, and the firm, now work in all 50 states.

St. Louis native Bundren’s detour from architecture started when he played baseball on scholarship at Truman State University, earning a degree in biology with a chemistry minor. After selling pharmaceuticals for a few years in Kansas City, he entered architecture school at Kansas State University. Back in St. Louis after graduation, he interned with Lawrence Group and has “had no reason to leave since.” In addition to his leadership positions and role as the firm’s director of sustainability, he serves on the Crestwood Planning and Zoning Commission.
