Welcome Ray Wong, Managing Principal of Florida Operations

Lawrence Group has expanded its Florida office with the addition of Ray Wong, AIA, EDAC, LEED GA, NCARB as Managing Principal of Florida Operations.

In his new role, Wong will focus on growing Lawrence Group’s healthcare design presence in central Florida and delivering client-focused solutions that address the unique challenges faced by healthcare systems of all sizes.

“I’m excited to lead a talented team of individuals who are all dedicated to creating spaces that not only meet but exceed the evolving needs of our healthcare clients,” said Wong. “Together, we aim to redefine the future of healthcare architecture in Florida and beyond.”

From local hospitals to clinics in South America, Wong’s vision has helped shape healing spaces around the world for more than 20 years. His extensive project portfolio includes such notable Florida healthcare projects as the new St. Joseph’s Hospital South in Riverview; the Moffitt Cancer Center South Expansion in Tampa; the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Central Energy Plant in Sarasota; the Tampa General Hospital Kennedy Healthplex in Tampa and Lawnwood Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department Expansion in Fort Pierce.

Lawrence Group launched its Florida office in 2022 and has plans to expand operations in the near future. Lawrence Group is currently designing a 120-bed hospital and wellness village off on Merritt Island that would replace Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach. The new $290 million hospital is expected to open in 2025.

Prior to Lawrence Group, Wong was Associate Principal, Tampa Healthcare Design Market Leader at Baker Barrios Architects in Tampa, FL. An award-winning architect, in 2020 he was one of six architects recognized by the American Institute of Architects as a “Citizen Architect” for his advocacy efforts within the Tampa community.

Wong has a Master of Architecture from the University of South Florida and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University. He is an active volunteer in Habitat for Humanity of Hillsborough County and a member of the City of Tampa CRA Community Advisory Committee – Downtown Core District. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, running, tennis and visiting local museums with family.
